Cardamom, the “queen of spices”, adds a warm, floral aroma and a unique flavour to food and drinks. Our 8mm green cardamom (elaichi) is sourced from the high ranges of Kerala and sorted for size, colour and aroma, so every pod is plump, fragrant and full of flavour.
What makes 8mm special
The “8mm” is the size grade of the pod. Larger pods are sorted out from the harvest, which is why 8mm usually costs more than smaller grades. If you cook with cardamom often or want the strongest aroma, this is the grade to pick. For everyday use, see our Cardamom 7mm.
Key features
- Large pods: each pod measures 8mm or more
- Rich aroma: full of natural essential oils
- Vibrant green colour: a sign of freshness and careful selection
- Dark, aromatic seeds: plump pods with deep black seeds
- Versatile: suits cooking, drinks and desserts
How to use it
- Tea, coffee and chai: crush a pod into the pot for a fragrant brew. See our Kerala masala chai recipe.
- Desserts: payasam, kheer, cakes, cookies and sweet syrups.
- Curries and biryani: add whole pods to hot oil for warm, spicy notes.
- Spice blends: a key ingredient in garam masala and other traditional mixes.
